Our Team

Our team is comprised of a handful of women whose efforts are tireless when it comes to the care and welfare of the cats that come to Kittyland. Starting with a rundown facility that was once Save-A-Pet, they are now slowly shaping it into a rescue for cats and kittens throughout the Coachella valley.

Ann and Barry Manilow...and yes, she is a Fanilow.

I was born in a small market town in England, my first pet being a black cocker spaniel. However my Mother loved cats so we also had a cat and throughout my childhood and subsequent life have never lived without pets in the house. I moved to the USA in1989 and brought 2 cats with me. My first American cat appeared in the back yard one day and lived on our garden furniture for 6 months before I decided he had better stay, he was a really sweet cat and went by the name of Frank the Yank.

My first venture in the USA to rescue was after Hurricane Katrina, I answered the call for volunteers at Save-a-Pet and have been working on that property ever since. 120 animals were brought into our valley after that disaster to give them a new beginning.

Sadly the zoning was changed on the Save a Pet property and there were too many animals on site. The dogs went off to another facility but the cats had no where to go. We negotiated for the land and Kittyland was born. That was 3 years ago and we are still working on getting our property up to code and refurbishing the old buildings.

Jeannette stopped by Kittyland one day and asked what Kittyland needed, and we said HELP!  She has been with us ever since. She is our Assistant Director, board member and is in charge of our infirmary where she employs her holistic background with her nursing experience. Jeannette works side-by-side with Ann for the needs of Kittyland, from accepting cats to care for from other shelters that need a quarantined infirmary for sick cats and kittens to fundraising events to social media, and anything else that needs to happen to keep Kittyland running smoothly.

Patricia has a B.A., M.A., and Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa.  She is a tax attorney specializing in tax exempt organizations and their retirement plans.  She presently works half time with a consulting firm in Los Angeles.

Patricia met Ann (Kittyland President) and Jeannette (Board Member) in 2015 and subsequently incorporated Kittyland Cat and Kitten Rescue, Inc.  She obtained Kittyland’s 501(c )(3) federal tax exemption and other related state and federal exemptions.  She currently serves as Corporate Secretary.

Patricia supports Ann Woods in managing the adoption cattery at PetSmart, Palm Springs.  Thanks to her solicitation and management efforts, we currently have a staff of 15 volunteers at that facility, including two of the best adoption counselors in the Valley.   The PetSmart team is breaking records every year for successful adoption of cats and kittens and donation revenue.

Patricia is a “Gold Paw” monthly contributor to Kittyland.

Ben and Junior are Patricia’s personal fur children.  They are amazingly beautiful and smart and love to purr and play “mousie” games with a toy mouse, a bell and a stick.   Their Cat Daddy (also Patricia’s husband) is a supportive cat person as well.  This family lives at The Lakes in Palm Desert.

Pam is our receptionist and one of the first people you may meet when contacting Kittyland. When you visit, her desk will have not only neatly stacked paperwork, but also cat toys and perhaps a cat to greet you as well. Pam not only handles all the phones, but also helps with the kitties socialization.
